SINGLE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR AT A SENSATIONAL PRICE
“The birth of julesharrison Pinot Noir was a long-time dream for a couple of important women in the Los Angeles wine industry. Katherine Strange ran a highly regarded wine broker and distributor company in Southern California and her good friend Carolyne Styne, noted restaurateur of A.O.C., Lucques and Tavern fame, wanted to create their own wine brand, and julesharrison was born. Katherine recently discovered that they still had some of the 2012 julesharrison Bien Nacido Pinot Noir in the warehouse. Apparently, a distributor had never picked up his allocation, and so their loss is our gain! Originally retailing for $40 a bottle, we bought all that we could get, so we could offer it to you at just $21.99! There was not much available so do not miss the chance to get this perfectly aged Pinot Noir at 45% off!” – Glen Knight, The Wine House
Winery Tasting Notes
The color is a bright, brilliant ruby with a touch of gauze near the edges. The aromatics immediately leap out of the glass, fresh with strawberry and gardenia against a background of soft fallen leaves as a hint of bacon fat. The palate, while surprisingly broad and supple, is given cut and vibrancy by juicy and linear acids. The tannins create the firm framework and lithe structure that suggest a long and brilliant life ahead.
Bien Nacido needs no introduction as this is perhaps California’s single best-known vineyard site. The Santa Maria Valley was once deemed far too cool for the proper ripening of any sort of grapes, but the Valley, in general, and this vineyard in particular is now thought of as one of America’s great terroirs. Our block, named “Q,” is a three-decade-old planting of Martini clone Pinot Noir atop Elder series loam; a sandy, low-vigor soil with a fair amount of shale mixed in. The vineyard has been farmed by the Miller Family since inception.
